High overtones are more like whistling through the sax than anything else. I'm using a Link Supertone 8 and Hard Rico Plasticovers. I've found that the plasticovers help to keep the brightness under control. Though, I wouldn't say their build is the best.

Middle D is a problem for a lot of saxophones. It can be very sharp (10 to 20 cents) and can be "stuffy." To flatten it out you can hold the left hand pinky B or Bb key.
