Perma-tran 821xl is the most recent formulation of it. Before that was Perma-tran III, and before that Perma-tran II. lately we've been using the trans/hydraulic fluid from TSC and fleet farm in our Massey 165 & 285. Works just fine. Not sure what year yours is, but the 285 was made late 70's/early 80's. Can someone recommend an equivalent transmission/hydraulic oil to the Permatran 821XL? Dec 8, 2011 · My tractor calls for agco 821xl hydraulic fluid and I am looking for a good substitute. Agco 821xl is not available in my area. I would like the best fluid that is compatible. Permatran III is not an available option. I have John Deere,case,and newholland dealers in my area along with some auto parts stores. The current Permatran 821XL Semi-Synthetic is compatable, msrp is around $65 for a 2 1/2 gallon jug.
