In most cases there are issues getting the PTO to run because it is being disabled by an interlock. In other cases the tractor "thinks" the PTO is engaged so it kills the engine. It doesn't sound like you have either of these issues.

Look for leaks at the pto pins.Non working pto could be pressure plate fingers worn off or a bad throwout (actually engagement) brg (parts key #32) or worn pressure plate fingers. You can remove inspection plate on the bottom of clutch housing and look inside. Or problem could be farther inside trans (2nd photo) which would be a bent/broken tiny pin (parts key #27).2005 5520 with cab and loader. Has a 10ft brush cutter on right now.
