Personally I think working on altissimo IF you use it is a good idea, and the first 3-4 overtones are useful, but getting a million overtones is just a party trick.4) If you buy a used sax locally, of course the best is to try it out. The reason is simple. When you play the horn it resonates in your head, therefore you'll have to turn up a bit to hear the mix above the natural resonation. These things aren't cheap.

I play tested two Buffet-Crampon Baritone Saxophones - one lacquered, one matte; two Selmers, a Series Three and Series Two; and a Antiqua, black lacquer. The only one that came close to my Yamaha was the Antiqua. The Selmers were on par with the Buffet-Cramons.. Lusting for step mom

I have had one for a couple years. Good horn, but I "cheated" and had Ken Beason do his benchmark setup on the horn. I've got the 85% copper, which produces a warmer sound. You shouldn't have to pay full retail; got mine for $800 less than the 1st price quoted.health problems that we sax-players face. 1: Saxophone players underestimate the seriousness of the health risks that playing the saxophone exposes us to. 2: there are roughly 26 common health-problems saxophone players experience. 3: Almost 100% of saxophone players run into one or more of these saxophone-related health-problems at some point.So it doesn't matter how a model of saxophone is designed or what features it has if there is no consistency in the product.
